My name is RAFA LOMBARDINO and I've been a multilingual services provider since 1997. I am the Executive Director of Word Awareness, Inc., a small network of professional translators founded in California in 2004. I also work in the publishing and audiovisual fields and present classes, workshops, and lectures on a wide range of topics—from translation, media, and technology to sociocultural current affairs and de-imperialization studies.

I was born in Brazil in 1980 and moved to California in 2002. I have an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, with an emphasis on Data Processing, and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Communication, majoring in Journalism.

I became a certified translator after passing both the English-to-Portuguese and Portuguese-to-English translation exams administered by the American Translators Association (ATA) and earned a Specialized Certificate in Spanish/English Translation from University of California San Diego Extended Studies, where I subsequently began teaching Tools and Technology in Translation, whose book companion was published in 2014.
